Whats on my mind these days, probably the same things that are on yours. Elections coming up and its always the same, candidates bashing each other and promising the world to the voters. One issue I have a hard time with is the fact no politician wants to raise taxes. OK, we are in financial crisis, they are cutting state budgets to the bare minimum, furloughing workers, and still looking for ways to save. Saying "I will not raise taxes" is a nice vote getting statement, but its not realistic. We need to dig out of this mess now! We may have to live lean for two or three years but we will be better for it. We have to raise taxes before its to late. The last eight years was nothing short of a fiasco for the state of NM. Lucrative contracts and jobs given to campaign contributors and workers. State giving taxpayer money to political hacks to make tons of money for themselves. In the last eight years how many politicians were put away for cheating the state and the taxpayers of NM. No politician wants to raise taxes because that is a political career killer.

We have to bite the bullet New Mexico and raise taxes to get ourselves out of this mess that our current government created for us. I suggest a temporary tax increase until we can get back on our feet. There is no other way, we cannot continue to slash budgets, that means losing services. How much more can we lose. But there is one thing that we can afford to lose, the politicians that got us into this mess. The politicians that were not watching the store, the same ones that go to Santa Fe each year to party on your dime. The same ones that find jobs and state contracts for their friends and contributors. The same ones that don't take a stand when corruption surfaces. The same ones that run and hide like scared mice to protect his/her own neck. The same ones that are afraid to pass a comprehensive Ethics Reform Bill out of fear they won't get any more free drinks and dinners. Look at all the b.s. the members of the PRC have been involved in, UNBELIEVABLE!!

New Mexico needs to pass a law that states anytime a politician is convicted of so much as a misdemeanor while in office they will be removed.

Lt. Gov. Diane Denish is now running for Governor, she comes out and starts saying things like "Well when I am Governor, I am going to do this and that and I don't want to be a "good ole boy". Wait a minute, isn't she the one that has been Lt. Governor for the last eight years? Isn't she the one that didn't make a sound or speak out when all the corruption was surfacing? Isn't she the one that has been taking a paycheck every month for , well I don't know what she did or does. Hasn't she been playing along with those "good ole boys" for the last eight years. Now all of a sudden, she is going to change everything, fact is she is part of the problem. She is a part of that whole political infrastructure that created the mess we are in. Sure we had a bad economy, but it was compounded by the current government being asleep at the wheel and taking care of their own.

People use your vote wisely, don't throw it away, vote out those career politicians that continue to use their offices for their own gain, and the people we do elect hold their feet to the fire, hold them to their promises or get them the hell out. They are "public servants" remember that term? They serve us, but we elect them and then treat them like royalty and they think they are untouchable.

If you had a business and one of your employees was not performing and/or stealing from you, you would you fire them? Well its time to fire some politicians because they work for us, they have not been doing their jobs, and we are paying now for their failures.

Arizona has been getting allot of heat lately for trying to protect its citizens. The immigration bill that they passed was designed from allot of federal immigration laws already on the books. Arizona just decided to enforce something that are already laws that the federal government was not enforcing. What are you going to do just lay there while hundreds of illegal immigrants cross the border? Immigrants that are unknown to us, some that may be convicts, drug runners, etc. Illegal immigrants do not pay taxes, but by the same token, are rendered services that are paid for by American taxpayers. Some of the people crossing the border are genuinely looking for a better life, but there are legal ways to enter this country. Nobody is saying they cannot come here, they just have to come here legally. Who are the protesters? People here illegally, friends and relatives of people here illegally, and citizens that hire the illegals because its cheaper than hiring Americans. NEWS: The only reason Obama denounced Arizona was because of politics, a good move to capture the Hispanic vote which the democrats desperately need in future elections. Now all of a sudden he is committing 1200 troops to patrol the border??? Go figure......yes, even UNITED STATES Presidents have brain farts.

Then you get the more ignorant people involved, the ones that want to boycott Arizona. The NM state senators that want to stop Arizona from getting NM state contracts and want us to stop visiting Arizona. Politicians that want to protect illegal immigrants over the rights of the citizens of the UNITED STATES . Are you kidding me? Arizona is being proactive in protecting its citizens from a literal invasion and members of these UNITED STATES want to condemn them. What is the government of New Mexico doing to protect its citizens especially those to the south? There is an estimated 450,000 illegals in Arizona, how many are in New Mexico?? How many are in Texas?? How many are in California?? Enough for a large Army?? Enough that don't have an allegiance to the UNITED STATES that are here just to make a dollar however they can. Enough that can burden our medical and welfare system, enough to create chaos if organized? Don't get me wrong, when I say illegals I don't mean just Mexicans from Mexico, there are races and creeds from allot of countries that are coming across the Mexican border because its so open. Its mind boggling to know that we have border patrol and military troops at the border looking for illegals that are trying to cross into the UNITED STATES only to realize that there are over 1,000,000 behind them already here. Of course Mexico jumps on the band wagon saying they are concerned about human rights issues. They just know that for every Mexican citizen that crosses over to the UNITED STATES that's one they don't have to worry about.
One worry about Arizona's law was racial profiling, the police were going to go crazy and stop every person of color in Arizona and check them out. PARANOID. Do people really think that law enforcement has the time and resources to stop every person of color in Arizona to check their legal status? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? PARANOID.. and not every illegal immigrant is dark skinned.

I want to applaud Albuquerque Mayor Berry for allowing ICE checks on people arrested in Albuquerque that may be here illegally. Thats a proactive approach, they are arrested for committing a crime, now they just follow up with a complete check. Kudos. Then of course a thumbs down to those city councilors that tried to vote the measure out, (elections people, use your vote wisely). ___________________________________________________________________

Oil Spills, again politicians asleep at the wheel, a bureaucracy filled with the watch dogs on the take, allowing corporations to do as they please with no oversight, sound familiar? Banks, investment firms, oil companies, they pay big money to Congressional campaigns for the way to be cleared for them. Whats next??? and who takes it in the shorts everytime, everytime, every damm time!!!! Me and you pay for all of it in the end.
Big corporations, lobbyists and the government is ruining our country. I didn't think I could agree with James Carville from Lousianna, but he nailed it about the federal governments response to the oil spill. Dragging their feet.

Miss America a victim of prejudice

As you have heard Miss California was recently denied (or chances drastically reduced) the Miss America crown due to her answer about gay marriages. She followed her conscience and stated that she believed that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. One of the judges Perez Hilton who is openly gay and asked the question, didn't like her answer so he scored her low enough that she didn't win.
What are we doing to freedom of speech and expression when we are criticized or punished for saying the way we feel? Maybe it should be clarified that we can THINK what we want but just don't say it out loud. What are we saying to our children who we want to grow up being strong in their beliefs, convictions and stand up for what they believe in. You can do that BUT just don't say anything publicly or it may cost you a job, promotion or something else.

Would Miss California been better off pandering to the judges and giving them a b.s. answer. There is to much of that going around the country these days especially by our politicians. They cannot commit to anything or any one side because it may lose them votes. So they play this b.s. game where they try to make everyone happy, talking out the side of their mouths and won't stand up for what they believe in. Some of them tend to be spineless, self serving, greedy and its all on the backs of the citizens of this country.

Got news! They want to play middle of the road? There is one person that doesn't care about separation of church and state, about being politically correct, about gay marriages. This country was founded on his word and its our failure to take a stand and follow his word that is taking this country down. We fool ourselves by talking about separation of church and state, that's something that atheist's and non-believers bring up to get their agendas across. "In God we Trust" is spread out all over this country, we pray before many events we attend, we pray for guidance, we pray when we are in trouble, we pray during disasters, we basically pray when there is something bad going on. It seems their is no separation of church and state when trouble strikes. (NOTE: Governor Richardson when deciding the repeal of the death penalty stated that he "fervently prayed" about the issue.)

Its funny, but when things are rolling along real good for everyone we tell God "we got this" and beat the "separation of church and state" drum, but when we get into trouble, who do we go running to. Sound familiar? Do you remember being about 17 or 18 and being on top of the world, knew it all and ready to go out and grab it by the horns? Then when something went wrong or we turned up a little short on cash, who did we turn to? Was it father or mother ?

I applaud Miss California and congratulate Miss North Carolina. And some evening when you are out on your porch just enjoying the weather and the beautiful sunset say a little prayer, just thank God that things are good and maybe tell him "we do need you".

Welcome to "In God We Trust"

Welcome to my blog. My intention is to enlighten the citizens of my state, the citizens of my country and peoples of the world on issues that I feel strongly about. Maybe through dialogue on this site we may be able to make changes in our world. Change will need to come from "We The People". Our current political system is failing us. How prophetic in this day are the words from the Merle Haggard song that we need to, "Stop rolling downhill like a snowball headed for Hell".
